What is it?
The Learning Agreement is an initiative from the Treasury led jointly by the Learning and Skills Council and Connexions West Yorkshire. It offers young people in work the opportunity to develop their workplace skills and gain a qualification by providing funding for training. The training which they receive will have practical relevance to your business.
Who is it for?
The Learning Agreement is available to 16-17 years olds who are in work and are not receiving training towards a nationally recognised qualification.
How does it work?
A dedicated Keyworker will discuss an appropriate learning plan with you and your employee. The plan will be tailored towards the development of your employee’s skills and the requirements of your business. The Keyworker will continue to provide support until the training has been completed.

Which courses are available?
There are many courses available at different levels, ranging from Level 1 (foundation level) to Level 3 (equivalent to A levels). The Keyworker will discuss the most appropriate training for your employee and the requirements your business. After successful completion of the training your employee will receive a nationally recognised qualification eg; City & Guilds,Technical Certificate, NVQ Level 1, Apprenticeship etc.
Where and when will the studying take place?
The amount of time employees will train and where they will train will be negotiated in advance with yourself. It is largely dependant on the training course chosen to best develop the skills required by the young person and your business.
