Riding on to a better future

Ben became disengaged with school education and didn’t do as well in his GCSEs as he might have done. He was referred to Zubair, a Keyworker in the Kirklees Learning Agreement team by C & K Careers. Ben was working for a building company as a general labourer. When he heard about the free training available on the Learning Agreement he was very receptive to this as it was bite-sized and he could still earn a living whilst doing accredited training. He signed up to do a Skills for Life certificate in Numeracy and after successfully completed the qualification then progessed onto a full apprenticeship organised by Kirklees College.  Read More

The largest careers exhibition for young people in West Yorkshire, Careers on Show, is set to return to Leeds on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th November. Read More

A second chance at Learning

"I decided to sign up to The Learning Agreement because it gives me a second chance at training, whilst enjoying all the benefits of being in work. " Kyle is a Material Test Inspector at William Cook Casting Products Ltd, a large Engineering Company in Leeds. His current work responsibilities include tensile testing metals and report writing. Kyle previously trained as a plumber at college, but decided to leave after a year due to the difficulty in finding a work placement. With a recently discovered passion for engineering, he remained committed to further training and showed immediate interest in the Learning Agreement. Read More
